Italo disco is not a genre, but a colourful conglomeration of musical ideas.

The spectrum of this often underestimated musical genre, which had its heyday in the early and mid-eighties, ranges from kitschy pop songs for beach parties to downright futuristic-sounding club tracks.

Christian Arndt, one of the three curators of the exhibition, takes us back to the roots of Italo Disco and explains the international influence the innovative Italians had with their musical ideas, the role played by a record company from central Hessen and which songs from the era remain "immortal" for him.
