Mirrianne Mahn (Chairwoman of the Culture Committee and cultural policy spokeswoman for the Greens)

Anna Wiebe aka Anagram (DJ & activist)
Moderated by Christian Arndt (FAZ, HR) & DJ Eastenders
Subcultures revitalise city centres. This is precisely why it should be in the interest of metropolitan regions to support the use of public space by cultural players. Paradoxically, however, there is more than just a general prejudice in the context of smaller event organisers: official permits and conditions in particular pose enormous hurdles to the realisation of underground events.
But can a city with international appeal afford the lack of such open spaces, subculture and nightlife? The panel will look for solutions to the problem outlined above. How can bureaucratic processes be simplified for small events and organisers? How can a partially sceptical society and local residents be convinced? How can cultural workers who create free and therefore low-threshold offers for everyone obtain cultural funding more easily and how can the city support their creative potential?
